Gentle yoga & creative journaling for mothers and babies
Gentle yoga & creative journaling for mothers and babies
Welcome
I created Ode to Mothers to offer gentle spaces for mothers to move, reflect through guided journalling and connect with others navigating this season alongside them.
A little time for yourself, to slow down, put some thoughts into words and capture the beautiful, messy and memorable moments of motherhood.
More than a mother & baby class
Motherhood is a life changing transition, full of new experiences, overwhelm and joy. In amongst caring for your baby, it can often feel impossible to make space for yourself.
This is a little time set aside each week to focus on you, too — your body, your thoughts, your experience and the opportunity to reflect on this season.
What to expect
A nurturing, inclusive environment for you and your baby. A space to move, breathe, journal and find community.
Move
Gentle yoga & breathwork designed for this season of motherhood. Each week will be guided by a different theme.
Journal
You will be given a journal at the first class and prompts to help you put thoughts onto paper each week. Each week will be guided by a different theme reflected in the journaling practice.
Community
A small, consistent group of mothers, creating a familiar space to return to each week.
Taken care of
Yoga mats, props and journalling materials are provided, along with tea, coffee and sweet treat each week.
For mothers and their babies in the early season of motherhood. A place to nurture the mothers who nurture everyone else, and honour your own milestones in motherhood.
No previous yoga or journalling experience is needed. Bring your baby and come exactly as you are — messy hair, eyebags and all.

Mum + Baby | Christmas Wreath Workshop
Join us for a morning of slow, seasonal creativity as we explore the art of making a beautiful cloth Christmas wreath.
During this two-hour workshop, you'll be guided through the process of creating your own unique cloth wreath, playing with colour and fabric to bring together something personal. A fun creative family friendly process that you can introduce to your little ones as they grow.
All materials will be provided, and no previous experience is needed. Just come along, get creative and enjoy a couple of hours doing something festive with other mothers and their little ones.

Looking for a gathering in your area?
Exciting news!
We will soon be expanding to more locations around Edinburgh.
I’m currently looking into some lovely spaces and new areas. If there’s a particular area you live in and you’d like to see a gathering there, I’d love to hear from you. Just get in touch!
A little about me
I’m Laura — a mother, yoga teacher and designer.
My yoga practice has followed alongside my career in the creative roles, from producing events to art directing and designing. When I was burnt out, it was often yoga that helped me come back to myself and gave me the headspace for creativity to grow.
I created Ode to Mothers to offer the kind of spaces I wished I’d had — somewhere to move my body, take a moment to breathe, put scrambled thoughts and beautiful moments onto paper, and spend time with other mothers who understand.
After having a baby, so much of the focus naturally turns towards your little one — their growth, their development, their milestones. Motherhood has taught me just how complex this season can be, and how easily our own needs can be deprioritised. But while your baby is growing, so are you. Motherhood brings its own milestones, changes and experiences that deserve space too.
My hope is that you leave feeling a little more supported, a little more grounded, and a little lighter than when you walked in.

Usually after 6-8 weeks, and often once you've had a chat with your midwife or doctor about when might be appropriate for you to start exercising again. This will be a gentle class but you're welcome to miss out the movement and focus on the journalling and breath work practice instead.
-
Yes, absolutely! Our only ask is that your baby is pre-crawling. We'll be launching a class or mothers and babies/ children in the future.
-
Usually from 6-8 weeks (which is often when mothers are advised that they can begin gentle movement, however please speak to your doctor or midwife) up to crawling. This class is for pre-crawling babies.
-
Yes ofcourse, both breastfeeding and bottle feeding are welcomed in the studio space itself. There are also quieter private spaces if you would like privacy.
-
They probably will at some point — and that’s absolutely okay. Babies are welcome exactly as they are. Feed them, cuddle them, settle them, or step out for a moment if you need to. There’s no need to apologise or worry about disrupting the class.
-
Something you feel comfortable in, you can wear leggings, jogging bottoms - whatever feels best.
-
All mats and props will be provided. We will also provide journals, pens, pencils and some tea/ coffee too. So, really all you need to bring is you, your baby and anything that might make you both more comfortable. You're welcome to bring your own journal if you have one already.
-
Whilst we understand how important family members are in delivering support. We ask that you attend with your baby only as our space is limited to one adult per booking.
-
If you have twins or triplets - yes of course! Whilst we honour that mothers deserve support throughout their entire experience of motherhood, this specific class is for newly postpartum mothers with pre-crawling babies. We hope to launch a class for mothers with older babies/ children in the future.

Current + Future Offerings
Classes to support mothers as they reconnect with themselves, build meaningful friendships, and remember that whilst motherhood becomes all consuming, it shouldn’t be done alone.
Current Offering : Mum + Baby Series
More than a mother and baby class, these gatherings are a chance to slow down, reconnect, and be supported. Through gentle yoga, guided creative journalling, and community, you'll find space to care for your body, reflect on your journey, and connect with other mothers—all with your baby by your side (pre-crawling babies).
❋ Coming Soon: Pregnancy Series
A gentle pregnancy yoga class to support your changing body and nurture your wellbeing throughout pregnancy. Through mindful movement, breathwork, guided creative journalling, and community, you'll have the opportunity to connect with other expectant mothers while capturing the hopes, thoughts, milestones, and memories of your pregnancy before they become part of your birth story.
❋ Coming Soon: Beyond Babies Gatherings + Workshops
Beyond Babies is a community for mothers beyond the baby years—a place to reconnect with yourself alongside motherhood.
Through yoga, creative workshops, day retreats, social gatherings, and opportunities to connect with like-minded women, Beyond Babies offers time to pause, recharge, and rediscover the parts of yourself that can so easily be overshadowed by the demands of everyday life.
Because whilst motherhood becomes part of who we are, it doesn't have to be all that we are.
